MS Office Class 5 (Text and Paragraph Formatting Using HOME Tab Ribbon)



TEXT & PARAGRAPH Formatting Using HOME Tab Ribbon:

1. Font The Font command is used to change text face and text appearance, and MS Word 2010 default font is Calibri (Body). Steps are as under:



Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Font button drop down menu from Mini Toolbar >> Click the desired Font from the list.

Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click Font button drop down menu from Home ribbon Font group >> Click the desired Font from the list.

Method3:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key >> and Press D from Keyboard >> Select the desired Font from Font list with Cursor Arrow keys >> Press Enter key from Keyboard.



2. Font Size:
The Font Size command is used to change the size for a selected text, and MS Word 2010 default size is 11 points. So follow these steps:

Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Font Size button drop down menu from Mini Toolbar >> Click the desired Size from the list.

Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click Font Size button drop down menu from Home ribbon Font group >> Click the desired Size from the list.



Method3:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key and Press ] to increase size 1 point >> Or >> Hold down Ctrl key and Press [ to decrease size 1 pint. ( Ctrl [ and Ctrl ] ).

3. Grow Font:
The Grow Font command is used to increase the font size by two, eight, twelve, and twenty four points. For this purpose Steps are as under:

Method1:

Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click on the A button repeatedly from Mini Toolbar.

Method2:

Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the A button repeatedly from Home ribbon Font group.

Method3:

Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl & Shift keys and Press > key repeatedly from Keyboard. (Ctrl + Shift + >).

4. Shrink Font:

The Shrink Font command is used to decrease font size by twenty four, twelve, eight, and two points. For this purpose Steps are as under:



Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click on the A button repeatedly from Mini Toolbar.


Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the A button repeatedly from Home ribbon Font group.


Method3:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key & Shift keys and Press < key from Keyboard repeatedly. (Ctrl + Shift + <).

5. Bold:

The Bold command is used to apply or remove text bold formats and bold makes the text darker and heavier than the normal text. (High Intensity). For this purpose Steps are as under:

Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click on the B button from the Mini Toolbar.


Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the B button from Home ribbon Font group.


Method3:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key and Press B from Keyboard. (Ctrl + B).



6. Italic:

The Italic command is used to apply or remove text italic formats and italic means text in oblique format / text at 45 angles). So steps are as under:


Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click on the I button from the Mini Toolbar.


Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the I button from Home ribbon Font group.


Method3:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key and Press I from Keyboard. (Ctrl + I)

7. Underline:

The Underline command is used to draw or remove a line below the selected text, means to underline the selected text. So steps are as under:

Method1:Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the U button from Home ribbon Font group.

Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Open the Underline button list from Home ribbon Font group >> Click the desired Underline Style and Colors from Underline style and Underline colors drop down menus >> Click Ok button.

Method3:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key and Press U from Keyboard. (Ctrl + U).

8. Subscript The Subscript command is used to place the selected text below the baseline likewise H2O. For this purpose Steps are as under:

Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the X2 button repeatedly from Home ribbon Font group.

Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key and Press = from Keyboard. (Ctrl + =).



9. Superscript:
The Superscript command is used to place the selected text above the baseline likewise A2 + B2. So Steps are as under:

Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the X2 button repeatedly from Home ribbon Font group.

Method2:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Hold down Ctrl key & Shift keys and Press + from Keyboard. (Ctrl + Shift + +).


10. Change Case:

The Change Case command is used to change the capitalization (From small letters to capital letters and vice versa) for a selected text, and of course it is very important and very useful feature of Microsoft Word which saves a huge amount of our precious time and performs a useful task for us with consuming very small amount of time. So for this purpose steps are as under:



Method1:
Select the desired Text from the current document >> Click Home Tab from menu bar >> Click on the Change Case Aa button from Home ribbon Font group >> Click the desired case from the list described below.

(a). Sentence case:
It is the default case of Ms-Word which capitalizes only the first starting letter of each selected sentence.

(b). lower case: 
Click this option to change the selected text into small letters. 


(c). UPPER CASE:
 Click this option to change the selected text into capital letters.

 (d). Capitalize Each Word:
 This option capitalizes the first letter of each word in the sentence. 

(e). tOGGLE cASE: 
This option performs the Title Case opposite. 


Method2:
 Select the desired Text >> Hold down Shift key and Press F3 repeatedly..
